A warm welcome...

We are the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) for Carmounside Primary School: a friendly group of parents, carers, teachers and friends who've come together as volunteers to support and enrich the experience of every child who walks through the gates.

We're a brand-new PTFA and honestly? We're thrilled to get started.

Our aim is simple — do as much as possible to support the school, whether that's fundraising for equipment and resources or throwing together events that bring our whole school community closer together.

Watch this space, it's only going to get better from here!

At the heart of it all, our mission is to build a strong partnership between parents, teachers and the community to make school life richer for every single student. We do this through fundraising, organising events, and providing resources that open up new learning opportunities, spark community spirit, and champion what our school needs. Together, we're on a mission to create a warm, inclusive place where every child can truly thrive.

Meet The Team

Say hello to the friendly faces behind Friends of Carmountside Primary! We're a small (but mighty) group who dedicate spare time because we love this school and want to make a difference for every child in it.

PTFA Team
  • Sharnelle — Chair
  • Julie — Treasurer
  • Natalie — Secretary
  • Amy — Committee Member
  • Kim — Committee Member
  • Zita — Committee Member

Between us, we handle everything from counting the pennies to planning our next big event — and we couldn't do any of it without the support of our wonderful school community.

Fancy Getting Involved?

Friends of Carmountside Primary is powered entirely by volunteers (that's the magic ingredient!), and we'd love for more of our lovely school community to get stuck in — whether that's joining the committee, lending a hand at an event, or just popping along to say hello. No experience needed, no pressure — every bit of time you can spare makes a real difference.

  • What is a PTFA?

A PTFA (Parent-Teacher-Friends Association) is an organisation that brings together parents, teachers, and community members to support a school. It fosters collaboration, organises fundraising events, and creates a sense of community, enhancing communication and resources for students and educators.

  • Why a PTFA matters?

With stretched budgets, a successful and supportive PTFA contributes to improving the educational experience and future opportunities for all children. The money raised through these events goes directly towards providing vital resources for our pupils. Every penny will make a difference!

  • How does a PTFA contribute to the Academy?

A PTFA contributes to the Academy in several impactful ways. It organises fundraising activities that provide essential resources and programs to enhance the educational experience. By fostering a strong sense of community among parents, teachers, and students, the PTFA promotes collaboration and engagement. It also plans social and educational events that enrich the school culture and facilitate connections among families. Additionally, the PTFA acts as a voice for parents, advocating for improvements and initiatives that benefit the Academy and its students, while providing extra resources and support for teachers to create a more effective learning environment. Overall, the PTFA plays a vital role in enhancing the Academy's educational landscape and community spirit.

  • Is the PTFA apart of the Academy?

No, the PTFA is not a part of the Academy; we are a completely separate entity in our own right. However, we collaborate closely with the school to support its mission.

  • Where does the money raised go?

Funds raised go directly towards supporting school— for example, equipment, resources and experiences that benefit the children. We'll publish more detail on specific fundraising goals as they're confirmed.

  • How do I join the PTFA?

We'd love to hear from you — please get in touch by email sharnelle.simcock@carmountside.org.uk and we'll let you know about upcoming committee opportunities.

  • How do I find out about upcoming events?

Details of upcoming events will be posted on this website and shared with parents directly. Check back regularly for updates.
