PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education)

At Carmountside Primary Academy, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is taught through Jigsaw, a comprehensive and fully integrated programme that supports pupils' personal development, wellbeing, and emotional health.
Jigsaw, is a mindful approach to PSHE, brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education, emotional literacy, social skills, mental wellbeing, and spiritual development within a progressive and engaging scheme of learning. The programme provides children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to navigate life confidently, build positive relationships, manage their emotions, and make informed decisions.
Through a spiral curriculum, pupils revisit key themes each year at an age-appropriate level, enabling them to deepen their understanding and develop resilience, confidence, and independence. Jigsaw supports our commitment to promoting positive mental health, healthy relationships, personal safety, and wellbeing, helping all children to thrive both in school and beyond.
The six Jigsaw themes are:
- Being Me in My World
- Celebrating Difference
- Dreams and Goals
- Healthy Me
- Relationships
- Changing Me
These themes provide a consistent and structured approach to developing the knowledge, skills, and values that children need to become respectful, responsible, and successful members of society.
